Can you help my condition?
Whether you have neck pain, indigestion, cancer, or any other condition, your body can only benefit from improved physical and nutritional function. In some cases, it is not possible to stop a disease process but we can usually help improve the quality of life.

Many conditions respond well to Nutrition Care.
Chiropractic care is recommended for the treatment of low back pain. But many patients find that other problems improve after beginning chiropractic treatment, such as:

How much does the nutrition evaluation cost?
The Comprehensive Nutrition Evaluation is $595. This package includes the Reflex Exam, a thorough history, a 24 hour urinalysis test AND three follow-up visits. We really want to support you in understanding your recommended plan so we also include a copy of "The Enzyme Cure" by Lita Lee. This book was written about the type of evaluation performed by Dr. Agrawal. After your three initial visits the doctor will make recommendations for future care. For more detailed information please call the office.

Once I start chiropractic care will I get hooked?
Anyone with a spine can benefit from regular spine check-ups. After the initial phase of care, most people find that somewhere between 3 weeks and 3 months is a good interval. If you need chiropractic care more often than every 3 weeks for an extended period of time – part of the picture is being over-looked. A Nutrition Evaluation can point to imbalances that prevent you from "holding" your adjustments.
My goal is to help you learn to listen to subtle clues from your body before it starts shouting at you (ie pain, discomfort, disease). As your body awareness improves you will be able to tell when you need a "tune-up" to PREVENT the symptoms you used to have.

I live out of state - will Dr. Agrawal work with me?
Dr. Agrawal does have out-of-state patients that do follow-ups by phone. The initial intake and first follow-up must first be completed in the office. This usually requires a minimum of three days in the area.

I'm pregnant - are these symptoms normal?
Many symptoms such as heart burn, morning sickness, fatigue, hemorrhoids, constipation, skin rashes, ankle swelling, yeast infections and indigestion are COMMON during pregnancy. Dr. Agrawal has seen in her practice that these symptoms all indicate underlying nutritional imbalances. When properly addressed these symptoms resolve very quickly.

What are enzymes?
Enzymes are the spark of life. Without them, life would not exist. They are the workers that make your body function. Although the action of enzymes cannot be seen, it is the driving force behind virtually every biochemical process that occurs in the body. There are literally hundreds of thousands of enzymes active in every organ, tissue, and fluid, and each has its own function. Enzymes activate our muscles, stimulate our nerves, make our hearts beat, keep us breathing, and even help us think. These complex biochemical substances are also able to convert nutrients from food to strong, healthy bodies.

There are three distinct types of enzymes:

  • Food enzymes - which are contained in all raw food.
  • Digestive enzymes - which are secreted by the body to digest food.
  • Metabolic enzymes - which run other biochemical processes.

What do enzymes do?
In the case of plants, these enzymes bring the plant to maturity or ripeness. If the conditions are right, they will "digest" the plant when properly activated. The enzymes can be released by chewing or cutting of the plant. In addition, all enzymes require the following in order to work: the presence of water, the proper temperature, the correct pH range (acid vs. alkaline), and something to digest.
The body is provided with enzymes every time raw food is eaten because it contains just the right amount and type of enzymes to digest itself. Nature put these enzymes in raw food to aid in the digestive process rather than having the body's enzymes do all the work.

What are the different types of food enzymes?
There are four main types of food enzymes:

  • PROTEASES break down protein (meats, beans, etc.).
  • AMYLASES break down carbohydrates (potatoes, pasta, cookies, etc.).
  • LIPASES break down fats (olives, avocados, etc.).
  • CELLULASES break down fiber (celery, carrots, etc.)
Three amylases are essential to the digestion of carbohydrates:
  • LACTASE breaks down lactose (milk sugar).
  • SUCRASE breaks down sucrose (refined sugar).
  • MALTASE breaks down maltose (malt sugar).

If I need a balanced diet, why would I need enzymes?
If you eat food that is steamed, boiled, roasted, broiled, fried, stewed, canned, pasteurized, or even microwaved, you need food enzymes. Enzymes are the most heat sensitive nutrients found in food. When food enzymes are missing, the body is forced to produce all the enzymes necessary for digestion. This puts unwarranted stress on the organs of digestion which must rob enzymes from your immune system to digest your food.
